DENVER – CORY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SPONSORS ALL-SCHOOL “Piggy Bank” FUNDRAISER for FAMILIES FIRST
"Kids Giving to Kids!”
That’s the challenge Debbie Stricker’s fourth grade students at Cory Elementary School was looking for. In January, Stricker’s class coordinated an All-School Fundraiser for the Colorado Nonprofit, Families First. The fundraiser gave these future leaders the opportunity to put their compassion for others into action. One of Families First’s signature painted piggy banks was placed in each classroom. Every day for two weeks, students brought in pennies, silver and bills to "feed" their pig! In two weeks, with 100% classroom participation, Cory Elementary raised $1450. Special thanks to Monroe Roush and Christi Vick (pictured), Anna Learned and Caity Henderson who spearheaded the effort with passion and enthusiasm.
