VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
We currently have immediate openings in the following areas:

 

CHILDREN'S GROUP LEADER
Position Overview: The Children's Group Leader will provide a children's group for children age twelve and under during parent support groups and classes. Will plan and implement activities that enhance a child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.
Time Commitment: 3 hours per week
Where: Various locations throughout the Metro area
Why: To create a healthy, accepting atmosphere where children can experience success and receive positive reinforcement.

 

FAMILY SUPPORT LINE WORKER
Position Overview: The Support Line Worker will provide intervention and information to parents and caregivers in need of support in their relationships with their children: responsible for providing educational information and community resources to parents, professionals, and others. Will provide a starting point to become involved in Families First Family Support Services.
Time Commitment: 4 hours per week/bi-weekly.
Where: Your own home or central office.
Why: To empower parents in strengthening family relationships.

 

STAFF AIDES
Position Overview: To work alongside staff in caring for abused and neglected children. (Assists with homework, outings, meals and activities).
Time Commitment: 3 hour commitment each week
Where: Children’s Center
Why: To establish a nurturing relationship with a child.

 

VOLUNTEER QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must be 21 years of age (except as a Children’s Group Leader)
  • Complete interview and training
  • Provide references
  • Complete a background check
  • Energetic, patient and sensitive
  • Active listener
  • Ability to respond to crisis in a calm manner
  • Understanding of the characteristics of child abuse and neglect
  • Accepting and non-judgmental of others
  • Committed to the belief that people have the capacity to change
  • Desire to help parents and children
